Financial Planning
Clarity Starts Here
We don’t start with recommendations. We start by understanding your full financial picture. That means taking a step back to look at where you are today, what matters most to you, and what financial peace of mind looks like in your life.
From there, we guide you through a collaborative, three-meeting process – Explore, Envision, and Engage – designed to organize your financial life, clarify your priorities, and help you make thoughtful decisions about the future.
The goal is not just to produce a plan, but to help you understand your options, and approach financial decisions with clarity and confidence, while ensuring we're a right fit for a long-term partnership.
Our Planning Process
Financial planning is rarely about a single decision. More often, it's about understanding how a series of decisions work together over time. Our planning process is designed to help organize complexity, identify opportunities, and provide clarity around the choices that have the greatest impact on your future.
For the individuals, families, retirees, and business owners we serve throughout Colorado and across the country, financial planning often means bringing together retirement, investments, taxes, cash flow, insurance, estate planning, and business decisions into one coordinated strategy. By understanding how each decision influences the others, we can help ensure every recommendation supports your long-term goals rather than solving only one piece of the puzzle.
Explore
We begin with a conversation focused on you. This introductory meeting gives us the opportunity to understand your goals, values, and concerns, while also introducing our planning approach and how we help clients make informed financial decisions.
Envision
This is a working session where we begin shaping your strategy together. Using the information you have provided, we walk through your needs, wants, and wishes, helping you see how different choices affect your long-term outlook and probability of success.
Engage
In this meeting, we present your completed financial plan and recommendations. Together, we review your options, talk through tradeoffs, and discuss the decisions needed to help keep you on track for the future you want.
Frequently Asked Questions
1. What does a financial planner help with?
A financial planner helps bring the different areas of your financial life together into one coordinated strategy. This may include retirement planning, investments, tax planning considerations, estate planning coordination, insurance, cash flow, education funding, and other financial decisions that arise throughout your life.
2. When should I consider working with a financial planner?
Financial planning can be valuable at many stages of life, particularly when your finances become more complex or you are approaching an important decision. Retirement, a career change, receiving an inheritance, selling a business, or simply wanting greater clarity around your financial future can all be reasons to seek professional guidance.
3. Is financial planning only about retirement?
No. Retirement is often an important part of financial planning, but a comprehensive financial plan considers the decisions you're making throughout your life. The goal is to understand where you are today, where you want to go, and how your finances can help support those priorities along the way.
4. How often should my financial plan be updated?
A financial plan should evolve as your life does. Major changes involving your family, career, business, income, retirement, or other financial priorities may warrant an update. Even without a major life event, periodically revisiting your plan can help ensure it continues to reflect your goals and circumstances.
5. What can I expect from the financial planning process?
Financial planning begins with understanding your goals, priorities, and current financial picture. From there, we help organize the different pieces of your financial life, evaluate where you stand today, and identify strategies designed to move you toward your goals. The process is collaborative and evolves over time as your circumstances, priorities, and financial life change.
6. Do I need to live in Colorado to work with Andstead Advisors?
No. Andstead Advisors is headquartered in the Denver Tech Center and works with clients throughout Colorado and across the country. Meetings can take place in person at our Denver office or virtually, depending on your preference and location.
